What courses do we offer and when? 

As a regional training centre (RTC) we aim to deliver courses that build the skills and confidence of educators of all phases to use new technology both inside and outside of the classroom. We aim to create, through our courses, a community who share best practices and inspire excellence and creativity through their teaching.

Date - 17/7/2019 - Ongoing

This online course will provide you with the support and guidance you need to to gain your Apple Teacher status. The video tutorials, links and advice can be accessed in your own time allowing you flexibility whilst gaining this accreditation.

The course will teach you key skills and top tips for maximising your use of iPads in the classroom, whilst offering handy suggestions for the implantation of the skills you will learn. Further support is offered through our online Q&A session.

 Date - 3/10/18

Nick acton from JTRS will present this workshop where you will have the opportunity to test the Lego creations coding materials as well as learning about the array of supportive materials available for the primary computing curriculum. You will leave feeling inspired about with practical ideas and suggestions for how to implement Lego Creations into your own curriculum.

Date - 21/11/18

This workshop is aimed at supporting parents in managing and education their children in the safe and appropriate use of technology in the digital world. Whilst there will be a general focus, we will also be offering advice regarding cyber bullying and the impact of digital devices on mental health.

Date - 4/12/18

This workshop focuses on how we can develop more independant and self sufficient learners, flipping the learning using various apps and allowing more time for the teacher to deepen learning and work as the facilitator to support all learners more effectively. You will also look at the full functionality of the Apple Classroom app and how that can support the teacher’s management of the students whilst using the iPad and offer additional ways to differentiate and support learners.

Dates - 7/1/19

In this workshop you will be introduced to curriculum plans and approaches to the teaching of computing in the primary curriculum. You will leave with inspiration, practical resources and a greater understanding of the teaching and coding at all primary levels, from EYFS to Y6.

In addition, you will have the opportunity to learn Spheros and Drones - affordable robotics for use with the whole primary.

Date - 15/1/19

This workshop is aimed at school leaders, network managers and anyone looking to manage the deployment of handheld devices at their school. Led by one of our Deputy Headteachers and our school Network Manager, the course will focus on both the teaching and learning considerations and the logistical and technical considerations of introducing devices into the classroom.

There will be an opportunity to discuss financing such a plan and of course the vision/action planning behind the process.

An opportunity to see iPads in action in the classroom with our series of learning walks.  Book onto either our primary of secondary walks and be guided by one of our RTC facilitators who will be more than happy to answer any questions or queries you might have.

In this workshop you will be introduced to an array of practical applications for enhancing the creative nature of the work that children are producing. There will be ab opportunity to try green screen techniques for amazing results that will really excite both you and your learners.

Date - 25/4/2019

Time to celebrate the innovation and creativity of teachers of all phases in their use of new technology. Browse the pedagogy market place and engage in hands on activities before pursuing the innovation stalls set up by local businesses engaging in and selling products and services relating to new technology. You will also get the opportunity to feed ideas in to next year’s programme before going home buzzing with ideas to try in your classrooms

Date - 4/7/2019

In this workshop you will have the opportunity to work with your child in order to programme drones, robots and other fun exciting devices. This hands on workshop will give you an insight into what your child is learning and certainly inspiring them to try more coding. At the end there will be the opportunity for a small contest in one of our activities: Sphero Bowling or Game of Drones. This workshop is suitable for children of Year 4 and above.
